Natural Home Remedies for Toothache

A toothache or odontalgia is a very unpleasant feeling, especially when it occurs at time when you are unable to see a dentist like during the night, weekends, holidays...etc. Being unable to do something about the pain is what makes the unpleasant feeling even more unpleasant. While going to the dentist is inevitable, there are a number of natural remedies that can alleviate a toothache. These remedies do not solve the problem, but they are very effective in mitigating the pain:

Which makes it a perfect remedy against bacteria that cause tooth decay. Ginger has an anti-inflammatory effect, while cardamom disinfects the mouth and kills bad breath.

Dilute 30-60 drops of the tincture in a glass of water and drink it three to four times a day. Mexican wild yam tincture is available in herbal stores or online. In addition to easing toothache, plant barbasco also mitigates menstrual pain.

Mix St. John's wort, calendula and bay leaf then add one tablespoon of the mixture to half litter of water, let it boil and leave to sit from 30 to 40 minutes before using as mouthwash.

Mix one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching tooth. Alcohol, especially brandy and cognac are famous folk remedies against toothache. Alcohol is great disinfectant which relieves inflammation by destroying clusters of bacteria that causes it. To relieve a toothache, wash your mouth several times with alcohol.

To relieve a toothache using vanilla, apply a few drops of vanilla extract on the affected tooth. Vanilla also helps with spasms in the stomach and inhaling the scent of vanilla effectively relaxes and removes stress.

Add a few teaspoons of salt to a glass of warm water (warm water is necessary to dissolve the salt) and wash your mouth with it for about two minutes. PS: Do not swallow this solution.You can also use salt as external remedy by mixing half a teaspoon of salt with half a teaspoon of aluminum sulfate and then with a cotton wool, apply on the aching tooth.
